Martha Seijas

Martha Seijas

Member of the Supervisory Board

Martha is a civil rights attorney based in Detroit, Michigan. For more than ten years, she served as a law clerk to the Honourable Helene N. White of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which hears appeals from federal district courts in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. In a district where many automotive manufacturers have their U.S. headquarters, Martha drafted objective, clear and carefully reasoned judicial opinions.

The civil cases she worked on involved various forms of tort law, including product liability claims, diversity jurisdiction cases requiring the application of state law, and constitutional claims. Before her work at the Sixth Circuit, Martha spent fourteen years clerking for the same judge at the Michigan Court of Appeals. During that time, she analysed appellate briefs and lower court records and prepared detailed legal memoranda for judicial review, including in technically complex product liability matters.

Martha graduated from George Washington University Law School, where she served on the editorial board of the Journal of International Law and Economics. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and International Trade. Additionally, Martha is also a member of the Supervisory Board in the Green Claim Foundation.
